Friday Five

  1. You don't really know how much you miss conversation with your spouse once the kids enter the picture until you have a really great, interesting, interactive conversation reminiscent of your pre-child days. MK and I had a discussion last night about a segment he heard on the radio discussing what churches are doing wrong these days. I love getting into theological, philosophical conversations with him and it felt good to talk about that again. We've both been so busy lately that it's easy to just zone out in front of the TV once LMW's in bed. We had this conversation while I was cooking and he stood in the kitchen with me and LMW ate puffs in his high chair. We don't always catch those free little moments like that, but I wish for more of them. Confession: we eat supper in front of the TV because the dining table is always covered in clutter. And this causes LMW to grab food off our plates. So, it's really inconvenient plus, we don't talk. I need to change this.
  2. Speaking of the dining table, I desperately need to de-clutter and DIY our dining table and chairs. I snagged a free quart of Glidden paint the other day (in "dazzling daffodil") and hope to figure out how to get the paint to stick (it's wood but it's got a weird coating on the top). I also want to get some mis-matched chairs and possibly do a provencal French theme. I think maybe I've mentioned this before. One of the coordinating colors to that yellow is "cinnamon stick" and I think that'll look cute with it.
  3. There's so much I want to do to my house. (I wish I only worked part-time so I could work on the house or do crafty things like this and this. Ahhhh, dreams.) I know our house is small for us but we won't be able to sell and buy a new one for awhile considering the housing market is still down, so I'd just like to get it liveable. We need a new front door because the little hurricane peeled off the strips of veneer that had started to split (the door was OLD). So, now it's all duct-taped so he can't peel what's left. We also need to paint the eaves of the outside, paint the kitchen and dining walls, the hallway, and the bathroom. I'd really LIKE to turn the dining closet into a full pantry. Again, I know I've mentioned this all before but it's really been on my mind lately. We'd like to enclose the carport but that will take some major work. If I could just get my whole house clean, I'd be happy though.
  4. I plan on decluttering soon as Mom and I are planning a yard sale on Memorial Day. Our biggest source of clutter, though, seems to be laundry that I can't manage to put away. Since MK has a job where he has to wear nice clothes and now that LMW is here, I do twice as much laundry as I used to. It's a little overwhelming.
  5. Maybe I can get a little cleaning done this weekend, but I mainly plan on filling up LMW's little pool so he can go swimming. It's been a really nice week but only in the 70s. I think it will be heating up this weekend so maybe he'll get to spash around and play finally. He loves the water. I still have photos I need to upload from playing in the sandbox turtle over a week ago.
Have a great weekend!

i can't wait to see what you do in your dining room. i know it's frustrating to have all these dreams, but not have the time/energy/money to fulfill them. it'll happen sometime soon.

Even when you are at home, you still don't have the time/money/energy to do anything. Seriously my "to-do" bookmark tab is huge and this place is still a mess. But hey, no one can accuse me of not having any goals!
