1000th Post

Wow, I can't believe this is my 1000th post! Do I really talk that much? Considering I started this blog in 2005, I suppose I'm right on schedule. I guess I will dedicate this post to talking about MK's surgery, since I never got around to it.
Incision in his leg
Basically, the surgeon drilled a hole in his hip bone in order to get all the dead bone out. He was able to drill into 80% of the affected area, which is more than he's usually able to get. So, that's good. MK was a pretty good sport in the hospital but I was glad to be home the next day. He hasn't been too demanding, although I do get tired of having to get stuff for him sometimes. He's been alternating using crutches and the walker because our house is too dang small to use the walker everywhere, especially the bathroom. I had to help him shower after the first few days but his dad came over and installed a handle on the wall so that helped tremendously. He's now able to do many of the things by himself, but he can't watch LMW for me unless I'll only be gone for a short amount of time. He can't bend down and get in the floor with him or pick him up and carry him around since he still can't put weight on that leg.

We will not know whether the procedure he had on his hip was "successful" for another several months. However, the pain that he was experiencing in that area before and after the surgery has fizzled out. He does have some calf pain currently, but we think that may be due to the fact that he still can't put any weight on that leg, so he hovers over the floor with that leg using his walker. Maybe it's just muscle tension from trying to keep it off the floor. He called and talked to the orthopedist's nurse and the nurse didn't seem too worried about it since it wasn't red or swollen.

He goes back to the doctor in a few weeks and should find out if he can start putting weight on that leg. He's been at work and hasn't had too much difficulty getting around. He's going to start getting some more hours at work, so that's a huge relief.

Anyway, just wanted to (finally) give an update of everything. He's doing well and healing nicely, just has a little muscle soreness. Hopefully it'll go away soon.
